Stannah Stairlifts Use New Arthritis-simulator Suit to Raise Awareness
Stannah Stairlifts, the UK-based company who manufacture and supply stair lifts internationally, have come up with a unique approach to help their engineers and installers understand the effects of arthritis.
Nick Stannah, product marketing director, explained how the innovative suit mimics the effects of osteo-arthritis on a sufferer’s knees, hips and hands, and enables the team at Stannah to continue to develop their products to improve independence for arthritis sufferers.
The arthritis-simulator suit was designed by a team at the Design School at Loughborough University and was launched to mark World Arthritis Day on October 12th.
Over 9 million people suffer with arthritis in the UK, and more than 46 million Americans are living with some form of arthritis. These figures are significantly on the increase, especially with the rise in obesity and poor diet, and our senior population increasing.
